LICUAN-BAAY, Abra October 04 – A 29-year labourer died while his wife was injured when still unidentified gunmen shot them inside their shanty at sitio Tibing, barangay Tumalip, here Monday morning.
Abra police officials identified the fatality as Richard Gines Lanas, 29, married, laborer while his injured was wasnamed as Maricel Flogoso Lanas.
On the other hand, witnesses identified the suspect who is now at large as Jessie Bautista, a native of Isabela province and presently residing at Sitio Masisiat, Brgy. Tumalip, Licuan-Baay, Abra.
Initial police investigation showed the victim and his wife were about to enter their shanty when the suspect, who allegedly hid behind the door, suddenly fired at them several times hitting them on the different parts of their bodies.
Richard reportedly died on the spot while Maricel was rushed to the Abra Provincial Hospital for medical treatment where she is now confined.
Responding police operatives and elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) team recovered from the crime scene several spent shells of a gauge 12 shotgun which was used by the suspect in the perpetration of the crime.
The suspect is now the subject of a manhunt to ascertain the motive behind the said incident.
