One of the most difficult tasks of a school especially when faced with water scarcity is school landscaping activity. However, inspite of this problem, schools still participate in this activity which makes a significant contribution to the school and community.
Landscaping is the fruit of all the good works and unity of the pupils, parents, and teachers. It agitates the spirit of volunteerism of every constituent and stakeholder contributing to the success of the activity. Through love and care for nature, and with the theme “Inspired by beauty, nurtured by nature,” the pupils, parents, and teachers are motivated to finish the landscape even without knowledge of landscaping.
The different varieties of flowers that are abundant in the city, such as marigold, Malaysian mums, anthurium, roses, kutsarita, zenia, and chrysantimum are used in the landscape, as these flowers whisper the true fragrance and beauty of nature.
The different colors of the flowers show happiness and joy in working together. It encourages the camaraderie of all participants to work as one. It also gives good vibes to everyone who views the landscape.
The use of stones and eco-bricks in riprapping the area signify the love of nature. Covering the stones with mosses and putting wild cactus (which is merely seen in the city) on top of the soil enhances the beauty of the landscape. The nipa hut placed at the center of the landscape depicts the simplicity of lifestyle of the people in Baguio City.
The overall appearance of the landscape centers on celebrating the beauty and abundance of flowers in the city. Thus, landscaping connotes love of nature, at the same time it promotes camaraderie and it strengthens unity among people in the school and community.
