BONTOC, Mountain Province – A trail route reconnaissance was conducted for the three distances of the Lang-ay 2025 Trail Walk on March 6, 2025.
The team was composed of representatives from the Lang-ay Trail Walk-for-a-Cause Committee, which includes personnel from Bontoc General Hospital (BoGH), the Office of the Provincial Agricultural Biosystems Engineer, Office of the Provincial Information Officer, and 1403rd Mountain Province Community Defense Center 14th Regional Community Defense Group Army Reserve Command, Philippine Army.
The objectives of the activity were to assess the trail and determine the number of manpower to be deployed during the trail clearing, which will be conducted on March 20-26, 2025. This is to ensure the safety of participants in the trail walk.
The data-gathering activity started at around 6AM at the assembly area in front of the BoGH. The team then started hiking, passing through White Village and going up to Teng-ab for the three-kilometer route.
They continued to the trail near Ayochok’s residence, passing to the Cawed’s trail and moving up to the Globe tower and Mt. Pokis for the six-kilometre route. From Mount Pokis, the team further hiked passing through the grassy and muddy trail going to Mount Parutan. After having their snacks, enough rest and enjoying the beautiful scenery of the area where the Maligcong Rice Terraces can be viewed, they hiked going down to Congo, going to the Lonely Tree, Kissing Rock area until finally reaching Am-anani.
From Am-anani, the team moved down to the trail, passing to a dried brook and rice fields of Lafay, then back to Teng-ab, then continued going down until finally reaching Poblacion, Bontoc.
Meanwhile, the team wishes to extend their gratitude to Board Member Ezra Samson A. Gomez, Chairperson of the Lang-ay Trail Walk for a Cause Committee, as well as the sponsors of the noble endeavor led by Atty. Joseph Sagandoy.

It will be recalled that the first trail reconnaissance was conducted last February 22, 2025 by the committee members who are personnel of the BoGH and Provincial Environment and Natural Resource Office.
The Lang-ay Trail Walk-for-a-Cause on April 6, 2025 is one of the highlights of the upcoming celebration of the 58th Mountain Province Day and the 18th Lang-ay Festival.
