LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte May 07 – Some 500 top officials of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) are expected to gather in this city on July 8-10, 2015 to participate in the 3-day 24th North Luzon Area Business Conference for them to be able to craft plans and programs that would covert the local governments comprising Northern Luzon the future investment hub.
The annual area business conference is a regular activity of the PCCI every July in order to gather its officers and members for them to formulate short, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-bound actions plans that would consistently attract the influx of more investments in strategic areas that will contribute in spurring the robust economic growth of the local governments hosting the influx of businesses.
Engr. Alfonso T. Lao, PCCI North Luzon assistant vice president, said the annual gathering of businessmen have made businessmen proactive in dealing with the current trend of the times, especially in the expansion of their business to strategic growth areas to help in improving the overall economic situation in Northern Luzon and contribute in generating sufficient employment opportunities for the qualified people and sources of livelihood for host communities.
“We are elated over the consistent increase in the number of businessmen attending our annual gathering and we have taken note of their active participation in the round table discussions on the strategies that we should undertake to confront the challenges of growth and development in Northern Luzon,” Lao stressed.
The PCCI Ilocos Norte and Laoag City Chapters will be this year’s host of the North Luzon Area Business Conference which will be held at the Plaza del Norte Hotel and Convention Center. The PCCI Cordillera and Baguio-Benguet Chapters hosted last year’s business conference which was held at the Baguio Country Club in July.
Lao cited experts have already predicted agriculture and tourism-related businesses are expected to be Northern Luzon’s major economic driver in the coming years that is why interested investors in various areas must align their expansion projects and new focus areas to such facets for them to be able to grow with the expected surge in the said industries.
According to him, there are still numerous expansion areas of prospective businesses in the different local governments but it is on how the businessmen strategize their expansion projects and new investments that would help them improve the quality of competition in the different business opportunities in the Northern Luzon area.
The PCC North Luzon official cited the government’s investment to the infrastructure development of the provinces in North Luzon have greatly contributed in opening up the business potentials of Northern Luzon that is why more businessmen are setting their sights for their expansion projects in the different provinces in order to contribute in expanding businesses opportunities for the people.
He cited Laoag City and Ilocos Norte have also been considered by most Manila-based businessmen as their future expansion areas because of the putting in place of appropriate infrastructure projects and state-of-the-art telecommunication facilities which are the primary considerations for them to do good business in a locality.
