TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Tabuk City recently witnessed the grand opening of the first branch of the TAM-AN Banaue Multi-Purpose Cooperative marking a significant milestone as the 72nd branch in the cooperative’s nationwide network based in Nueva Vizcaya. This new branch, located in Bulanao, aims to foster economic development and provide essential services to the local community.
In his message, delivered by City Information Officer Aurora Amilig during the launch, Mayor Darwin C. Estrañero expressed his gratitude to the cooperative for selecting the city for its expansion. He emphasized the importance of cooperative efforts in the city, particularly highlighting the invaluable support that cooperatives have provided during challenging times such as the COVID-19 pandemic and various calamities. Estrañero assured attendees of the local government’s continuous cooperation and collaboration with the cooperative and its members to further enhance the community’s resilience and growth.
Jose B. Tomas, JR., JD, the Chief Executive Officer of the cooperative, articulated the core principles, discipline, honesty, and humility, that guide their operations. He underscored the significance of prayer in their activities, reinforcing the belief that faith is central to their mission. This spiritual approach underscores the cooperative’s commitment not only to business success but also to fostering a supportive community environment.
Pastor John Mico Bassi, a member of the cooperative, echoed this sentiment, referencing the biblical verse, “Unless the Lord builds the house, the laborers labor in vain.” His words resonated with the audience, emphasizing the necessity of placing God at the forefront of any organization to achieve true success.
As of 2pm on December 3, over 750 individuals have already signed up for membership, indicating a robust interest and belief in the cooperative’s vision. This enthusiastic response reflects the community’s eagerness to engage with a cooperative that prioritizes ethical practices and communal support.
For all new members who signed up earlier today, 5 kilos of rice was given as the cooperative’s gesture of goodwill and part of their promotions.
This new branch promises to be a vital resource for the people of Kalinga, contributing to their economic empowerment and fostering a spirit of cooperation and mutual assistance.
The launch of the TAM-AN Banaue Multi-Purpose Cooperative not only marks a new opportunity for local residents but also reinforces the cooperative’s commitment to uplifting communities across the nation. With strong leadership, community support, and a foundation built on faith, this cooperative aims to have 3 more branches established before the end of 2024.

Cenon, Regional Director of the Cordillera office of the Cooperative Development Authority, Catherine Lee Uera, the City Cooperative Officer, Alma Sandra Uyam, City Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative, Basil Baluyan representing Vice Mayor Dick G. Bal-o, Punong Barangay Joseph Pagtan of Brgy. Bado Dangwa who represented Punong Barangay Cosme Gunnawa, managers of the different cooperatives in the city and the officers of TAM-AN MPC.
