La Trinidad – The Levites gutted the Swordsmen, 96-69, last Wednesday, July 22, to come closer to sweeping the elimination round of Ephesians Bracket in the 3rd season of the Laity Cup at the San Jose Gym here.
Hazen Binay-an, a Public Prosecutor by trade, scored nine points while Benjie Madriaga added five in a run during the end of the second canto and the beginning of the third to pull away, 43-30, from a close game. This win is the seventh straight for the Levites and, with two more games, give them a good shot at completing a sweep.
In the lone game of July 15, the Wesleyans overcame a three point barrage by Benson Cacayuran to prevail 108-87. Cacayuran finished the game with a game high 33, including six from downtown.
