TABUK CITY, Kalinga – As part of the Local Government Units (LGUs) and Ethnolinguistic Groups Day, the Provincial Local Government Unit of Kalinga (PLGU) honored officials and personnel from the various municipalities and the city of the province, as well as the different tribes and sub-tribes that make up Kalinga. The event, held on February 12, 2025, was a vibrant celebration of cultural heritage and good governance.
In his welcome message, Provincial Vice Governor Jocel Baac expressed his gratitude to everyone who attended the celebration and participated in the parade despite the rainy weather.
He emphasized that the day was dedicated to all the attendees, acknowledging them as vital partners of the PLGU in delivering public service and improving the lives of their fellow YKalingas.
Provincial Governor James Edduba echoed Baac’s sentiments, further highlighting that the PLGU extends its prayers to the victims of the tragic accident involving the contingents from the Municipality of Balbalan. He wished them all a speedy recovery.
Edduba also underscored the significance of this year’s theme, which serves as a reminder of the importance of cultural roots, unity, and their role in fostering a progressive province.
“This reminds us of the strength and beauty of our cultural heritage, not only through the ‘BODONG’ but also through the virtues of kindness, generosity, and love for one another,” Edduba stated.
Kalinga Congressman Allen Jesse Mangaoang took the opportunity to highlight the province’s achievements in governance. He noted that in recent years, LGUs have gained recognition by winning various awards, particularly the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG), with Tabuk City being one of the notable recipients. These accolades, he said, are testaments to the LGUs’ commitment to elevating the province through effective and transparent governance.
The celebration was further graced by the presence of representatives from the national government. Among them were Abra Congresswoman Menhie Bernos represented by Councilor Luzan Ortega-Valero, and Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., represented by Beauty Gonzales-Crisologo, who serves as the senator’s Community Affairs Ambassador. Officials and personnel from the 7 municipalities and the City of Tabuk also joined the festivities.
