TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Liga ng mga Barangay-Tabuk City Chapter convened for its first quarter meeting at the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) Hall, Legislative Building on January 30, 2025. The meeting was presided over by Hon. Andrew Cos-agon, President of the Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) in Tabuk City.
The gathering was attended by the city’s Punong Barangays and/or their representatives, as well as personnel from various local government offices, including the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the City Barangay Affairs and Community Relations Office (CBACRO), the Population and Development Office (POPDEV), and the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD).
In his opening remarks, Cos-agon expressed his gratitude to the Punong Barangays and their officials for attending despite their hectic schedules.
He emphasized the significance of their involvement in the city’s development, particularly in their individual barangays.
He also underlined the importance of Barangay officials working together, emphasizing their vital link with the City as Local Chief Executives (LCEs) of their respective barangays.
Local Government Unit (LGU) Updates on Liga dues, the issuance of Punong Barangay Identification Cards (IDs), and the CBACRO program, which entails a quest for the Best Barangay Secretary, were among the main topics of discussion during the meeting.
Discussions also covered updates on the Comprehensive Barangay Juvenile Intervention Program (CBJIP), which was facilitated by the CSWD, and issues and concerns pertaining to population and development within barangays as reported by the POPDEV.
Barangay leaders used the gathering as a crucial forum to coordinate their plans and projects for the ongoing improvement of their communities. By Edward Joseph Gacuya
