LINGAYEN, Pangasinan (PIA) – The local government unit (LGU) of Lingayen is a recipient of the Regional Gawad Pagkilala awarded by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)-Region 1.
The awarding ceremony was held in San Fernando City, La Union on September 16, 2022 in conjunction with the Regional Culmination Program of the 59th Fish Conservation Week.
The award is given to a local government that implements strict implementation of anti-illegal fishing, distribution of paraphernalia to fisherfolks to have more knowledge when it comes to fishing, provision of livelihood opportunities to different coastal barangays, and much more.
The purpose of such celebration is to further develop and enrich the fishing sector in the country at the same time in promoting and developing the said industry in order to provide abundant harvest and income to the local fishermen.
Mayor Leopoldo Bataoil is very grateful to BFAR for continuing to recognize the LGU’s projects and activities not only in fisheries matters but also in agriculture.
“Our humble municipality promises to continue providing good services to fellow fishermen and farmers,” Bataoil said.
BFAR first recognized the good management of LGU-Lingayen in matters of agriculture after it qualified in the Clean and Abundant Oceans Program-Search for Outstanding Coastal Community.
