BAGUIO CITY – Two Baguio-based judokas were able to share the limelight in the recently concluded Penang judo championships that was held in Penang, Malaysia last April 27-28, 2019.
Mariah Christine A. Pauly won the gold in the 57-kilogram category while Seth Theodore A. Pineda was able to bring home the bronze medal in the 73-kilomgram category.
The local government extended financial assistance to the judokas for their participation in the prestigious international judo competition.
Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan extended the local government’s sincerest congratulations to the Baguio-based judokas for their achievements in the international competition, saying that their being adjudged as winners in their respective categories has again brought honor and pride to the people of Baguio which has been producing top calibre judo players over the past several decades.
Pauly has been a consistent medallist in previous local, regional, national and international competitions while Pineda is also a consistent medallist in various judo competitions that had been held locally and abroad over the past several years.
Baguio city continues to be a major producer of international calibre athletes in combative sports which had continuously brought honor and pride to the city and that their achievements had served as inspiration to young and upcoming athletes to replicate their achievements or even exceed the same for the benefit of the city.
