HUNGDUAN, Ifugao – A 66-year old local tourist was found lifeless at the summit of Mount Napulawan here late Saturday evening.
Superintendent Cherry Fajardo, public information office of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in the Cordillera, identified the fatality as Mario Arcenio, 66, a local tourist, who resides in Bicutan, Taguig City and a member of a local mountaineering group.
Initial police investigation showed personnel of the Hungduan Municipal Police Station received a cellphone call from concerned residents informing them of the untimely death of the local tourist who reportedly expired at the summit of the mountain for still unknown reasons.
Police immediately got in touch with rescuers from barangays Poblacion and Abatan barangays and were able to extricate the victim’s body from the summit and brought the same to the Hugduan District Hospital for the conduct of the appropriate autopsy in order to ascertain the real cause of his death.
