LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The municipality will be hosting the staging of the prestigious Mr. Grand Philippines Cordillera from September 25-28, 2025 that will contribute in aggressively promoting the town as a venue for the conduct of prestigious pageants.
Councilor Belmer Elis, Chairperson of the Municipal Council Committee on Tourism, said that some 20 male candidates from the different parts of the Cordillera, excluding Abra, will be actively participating in the regional elimination to select who will be the Cordillera’s representatives to the national competition scheduled in Manila by November.
He said that all the activities lined up for the 4-day competition will be conducted in the municipality that will pave the way for La Trinidad to be promoted as a preferred venue for the conduct of future pageants because of the presence of scenic destinations apart from the unique culture that the people can offer to the organizers and the participants.
Mr. Grand Philippines is a national beauty competition that showcases the beauty and brains of candidates from the different parts of the country. The pre-pageant for the national competition will be in October while the competition proper in the national scene will be done in Manila by November.
Councilor Elis was able to secure the franchise of the Mr. Grand Philippines Cordillera that will give his group the right to conduct the regional eliminations and select the Cordillera’s representative to the national competition in the coming years.
The pageant will allow the rich culture and history of the Cordillera to be featured by the candidates providing the avenue for residents and visitors to appreciate the diverse culture of the indigenous peoples from the different parts of the region.
September 25 is the arrival date for the participants who will be accorded the traditional welcome dinner, press conference and sashing ceremony.
Further, the candidates are scheduled to visit the various tourist destinations in the municipality on September 26 followed by the pre-pageant at the municipal gymnasium in the evening.
On September 27, the candidates will be featured wearing the different woven materials from the different parts of the region during the Fashion Show at the municipal gymnasium while the Coronation Night will be held on September 28 at the Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) gymnasium.
According to Elis, the winner of the Mr. Grand Philippines Cordillera will have to immediately prepare for the pre-pageant of the national competition in October and the contest proper in November that is why schedules for him will surely be tight considering the limited time available from the regional eliminations and onwards.
Local tourism industry stakeholders lauded the efforts of the municipal government in partnership with event organizers to bring to the municipality prestigious regional, national and international beauty competitions as it will surely contribute in aggressively placing La Trinidad in the country’s tourism map and a preferred destination for foreign and domestic visitors.
