LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The La Trinidad Municipal Police Station (LTMPS) handcuffed the Trading Post Market, 97-93, to book the La Trinidad LGU – Interoffice Basketball title last November 24, 2017 at the La Trinidad Municipal Gym.
The LTMPS topped the elimination round with an 8-1 win-loss record, well ahead of the 6-3 of three other teams tied for second. The team, however, had to go through two tough games to cop the crown.
They took out a pesky LT LGU Regular team, 83-81, in the semis before the four point win against the Traders in the finals.
The Traders, on the other hand, had to go throught the eye of the needle to reach the finals. They were among the tied teams for second along with McDonalds and LGU LT Regular but had to settle for third place due to an inferior quotient ranking against McDonalds. The LT LGU Regular finished third.
As a result, the Traders had to play sixth seeded LGUT LT 40s in the quarters and knocked them out by a 93-78 count to reach the semis and faced McDonalds needing to win twice.
They just did that in the two-day affair. They took game one 77-64, before sealing the deal with a 76-58 game two victory.
The Regular LGU team eliminated fifth seed Careo, 93-78, to earn the right to face LTMPS in the semis.
Meanwhile, The LGU Regular team completed McDonalds spiral downfall by taking the bronze at their expense, 71-63.
Benson Macli-ing of LTMPS was adjudged as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Teddy Walang (LGU LT 40s), Raycon Ganon (LTMPS), Chester Zambrano (LGU LT Regular), Tonton Mariano (Trading Post Market), and Vince Balatero (McDonalds) completed the cast of the Mythical Selection Team.
