LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The La Trinidad Municipal Police Station (LTMPS) team became the first semifinalist in the 4th edition of Laity Cup’s Interoffice Basketball Tournament when they send the Executive Mixers packing with a 76-67 victory last November 9, 2017 at the San jose Gym.
The taller and younger LTMPS attempted to break the game open, racing to a 10-point lead after the first, 25-15, and increasing it to 16 midway through the second.
The Mixers, however, came rushing back in the second to close the gap back to six, 41-35. Garcia powered the Mixers rally by canning two triples late in the first half.
LMTPS again attempted to open a big lead at the start of the third. Jolly Dawaton fired a triple of his own to start the run and capped a 21-10 explosion with another triple. They found themselves up by 16, 64-48, going into the fourth.
The Law Enforcers then broke the back of the Mixers by putting up a full court pressure defense and matched the Mixers point by point, 70-54, before resting their starters.
That allowed the Mixers to go on another scoring spree and cut the lead to what it was at the end.
Dawaton led all scorers with his 25 points. The Mixers were led by Haggard Pantaleon with 12 points followed by five others who had 8 each.
