LUNA, Apayao – Rey C. Duldulao of Revelyn Duldulao Farm in Poblacion, Luna has been named one of the Cordillera region’s national qualifiers for the 50th Gawad Saka Awards.
Gawad Saka Awards is a recognition given by the Department of Agriculture (DA) to outstanding individuals and groups in the agriculture and fisheries sector.
Duldulao was recognized for his achievements in small animal raising and integrated farming. He received a Certificate of Recognition from DA Secretary Francisco P. Tiu Laurel, Jr. during the National Farmers and Fisherfolk Month Culmination on May 26, 2025, at the Philippine Trade Training Center in Pasay City. He and his wife, Evelyn, accepted the award on behalf of their farm, which also serves as a DA Learning Site for Agriculture (LSA), ATI-Cordillera certified LSA, and TESDA-accredited technical-vocational institute. The farm has also received support through livelihood training funds facilitated by Congresswoman Eleanor Bulut-Begtang.
Duldulao’s farm was evaluated on March 18, 2025, by a team of assessors from the Bureau of Animal Industry, National Meat Inspection Service, Quezon Agricultural Research and Experiment Station, DA Cordillera, and the Provincial Veterinary Office. The panel reviewed entries from Regions I and II.
His selection puts a spotlight on years of steady work on the ground and his active role in promoting better farming practices. For Apayao, it is another step forward in showing what local farmers can achieve when given the chance and the support to grow. By Krizza Castillo
