LUNA, Apayao – The municipality of Luna recorded about 1,350 births and 214 deaths from January to June 2023, the most number in the province compared to other municipalities, according to Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)–Apayao.
Said municipality logged the largest number of births and deaths compared to other municipalities. Nevertheless, PSA Chief Statistical Specialist Geoffrey Calimuhayan said it should not cause an alarm since the town is where hospitals are and thus the recording of cases.
Some of the people who died and the babies born are actually from other municipalities or places nearby.
The records were presented during a meeting of the Provincial Statistics Committee of Apayao conducted its 2nd Semester Business Meeting held on Oct 5.
Among the seven municipalities of the province, Luna also recorded the highest number of marriages with 96.
The data for various municipalities, presented in the order of births, deaths, and marriages, is as follows: Conner with 410 births, 87 deaths, and 90 marriages; Flora with 145 births, 43 deaths, and 51 marriages; Kabugao with 101 births, 18 deaths, and 13 marriages; Pudtol with 96 births, 33 deaths, and 72 marriages; Calanasan with 76 births, 34 deaths, and 19 marriages; and Sta. Marcela with 57 births, 32 deaths, and 35 marriages.
These data shall aid policy makers and officials see the trends in their population. Apart from the said data, the officials who attended the meeting likewise talked about statistics of learners, registration of national ID, birth certificates and other important information which can affect the work and transactions of residents with the government.
