LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Wrestling team of Mountain Province excelled in the sport during the 2025 Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association meet.
The Mabikas team earned 12 medals bagging three golds, four silvers and five more bronze medals.
Kimberly Kate P. Macalling of the Mountain Province General Comprehensive High School clinched the first gold medal for Mountain Province after dominating her opponent from Apayao in the 40 kg. Cadet girls category.
Lj Xyserlyn P. Dongpopen of the Mountain Province General Comprehensive High School and Herlyn G. Malaktek of TSAT secured two more gold medals in the 48 kg. Jr. girls and 56 kg. Jr. girls category, respectively, after pinning their respective opponents during their respective matches.
Moreover, Norlyn Ebidag of Tapapan National High School (NHS), Allen Dave D. Ibatuan of Besao NHS, Benilda L. Coplanga of Tamboan NHS, and NBryne D. Loyaona of Besao NHS also defeated their respective opponent to add four silver medals to the Mabikas team.
In addition to the silver and gold medals, John Roel Colete of Besao NHS, Lafea Lang-et of Cagubatan NHS, Jerry Kyle Banganan of Sagada NHS, Noree Lee Aligo of Besao NHS and Danrev Clint Allab of Sadanga NTVHS earned five more bronze medals to contribute to the overall medal tally of Mountain Province.
Their coaches, Geralyn Tao-ing, Phoebe Grace S. Abad and Alex B. Sildon and trainer Tan B. Dulag, expressed their delight at the performance of the team in showcasing their talents. By MP-PIO
