BANGUED, Abra – A man was arrested by police operatives after he was involved in a case of attempted homicide that resulted to the discovery of assorted illegal ammunitions in the place where he sought refuge at Balawas farm, Calaba South here Sunday afternoon.
Senior Superintendent Antonio Bartolome, provincial director of the Abra Provincial Police Office, identified the arrested individual as that Romeo Bicera a.k.a Klem and a resident of Calaba South, Bangued, Abra, while he named the attempted homicide victim as Arnelio Batolazo, also a resident of the same place.
Initial police investigation showed a concerned citizen reported to the Bangued Municipal Police Station that a commotion was going on in barangay Calaba South.
Upon arrival in the area, Batolazo informed the police operatives that Bicara aimed a calibre .38 revolver on him and squeezed the trigger thrice but the gun failed to fire off.
During the follow-up operation, the suspect was arrested in the aforesaid farm and while police operatives were looking for the firearm used in the incident, they saw assorted ammunitions inside a tire that was under a tree in the area.
Among the assorted ammunitions that were recovered were 35 pieces live ammunition for caliber .38, 11 pieces live ammunition for gauge 12 shotgun, 60 pieces live ammunition for caliber 5.56 and two short magazine for caliber 5.56.
The suspect was brought to the Bangued Municipal Police Station for safekeeping awaiting the filing of appropriate charges against him while the seized ammunitions and magazines were brought to the Provincial Crime Laboratory Office for ballistics testing.
