BAUKO, Mountain Province – A 59-year old man died after he was allegedly bumped by a still unidentified motor vehicle while he was walking on the side of the provincial road on his way home early morning of New Year at sitio Tongtongbawi, Guinzadan Sur, here.
Chief Superintendent Rolando Z. Nana, regional director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in the Cordillera, identified the fatality as Gaspar Kiao Ngalatan 59, and a resident of Guinzadan Bauko, Mountain Province.
Probers claimed that the victim and his companions had a drinking session in one of the residences in their neighborhood to celebrate the New Year when he decided to leave his companions and walk home alone several hours after the New Year revelry.
However, one of his friends who followed him after a few hours found his body sprawled bloodied on the side of the road after he was believed to have been bumped by a still unidentified speeding motor vehicle that passed by the said place.
The victim was immediately rushed by his companions to the Luis Hora Memorial Regional Hospital for medical treatment but he was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians due to multiple head and body injuries as a result of the hit and run incident.
Probers are still ascertaining the identity of the owner of the motor vehicle that perpetrated the incident that caused the untimely death of the victim, thus, they are still gathering testimonies of witnesses who were able to see the occurrence of the said incident.
