PENARRUBIA, Abra – A 51-year old man died after his motorcycle collided head on with a dump truck in a curved portion of the Penarrubia-Bucay road, particularly at sitio Lingsad, barangay Riang, here, Friday afternoon.
Senior Superintendent Antonio Bartolome, provincial director of the Abra Provincial Police Office, identified the fatality as Lito Castillo, 51, married, and a resident of Barangay Sta Rosa, Bangued, Abra while he named the suspect as Carlito B. Almienda Jr, 38, married, driver, and a resident of Layugan, Bucay, Abra.
Initial police investigation showed the victim was driving his motorcycle en route to the own proper and was negotiating a curved portion of the road when it encroached into the opposite lane that caused his motorcycle to collide head on with the dump truck that came from the other side of the road.
Because of the impact of the collision, the victim was thrown off his motorcycle and banged his head and body on the concrete pavement causing him to suffer from serious head and body injuries.
The victim was rushed to the Abra Provincial Hospital for medical treatment but he was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physicians due to multiple head and body injuries.
