TUBA, Benguet – A 55-year old man died after he allegedly succumbed to gas poisoning inside an abandoned mine tunnel at Sitio Balococ, Camp 4, Kennon road, here, Wednesday.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Albert Basilio, 55, single and resident of Sitio Balococ, Camp 4, Kennon Road, Tuba, Benguet.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim was reportedly missing for two days, thus, his relatives conduct the search for him in the different parts of the area where he usually stayed around.
However, one of his relatives decided to enter one of the abandoned mine tunnels in the area and to his surprise, he saw the lifeless body of the victim lying in a portion of the tunnel around 80 to 100 meters from the opening.
Probers theorized that the victim might have succumbed to alleged gas poisoning as soon as he entered the abandoned mine tunnel.
His remains was brought home by his relatives for him to be given a decent wake and burial pursuant to the traditional rites.
