BAGUIO CITY – A 56-year old self-employed man died after he allegedly hanged himself inside the living room of their house with the use of an abaca rope for still unknown reasons at South Central Aurora Hill here Friday afternoon.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Reynaldo Balcorta Barril, 56, self-employed and a resident of South Central Aurora Hill, Baguio City.
Probers disclosed the alleged suicide victim could have died two to three days prior to the discovery of his lifeless body inside the living room of their residence.
Initial police investigation showed concerned barangay officials brought to the attention of the police the complaints of the victim’s neighbors on the foul odor emanating from their residence.
At around 2 pm Friday, personnel of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) Station No. 6 proceeded to the area and forcibly opened the locked main door and to their surprise, they saw the lifeless body of the victim in sitting position on the floor with an abaca rope tied around his neck while the other end of the rope was tied on the ceiling fan.
An autopsy conducted on the victim’s body showed that there was no other signs of external injuries except the strangulation marks of the rope around his neck which caused his untimely demise.
Probers are still coordinating with the victim’s relatives to ascertain the real motive behind his committing suicide.
