CABA, La Union – A motorcycle driver was injured after he was struck by a sports utility vehicle (SUV) in front of Caba District Hospital around 7:50 PM, October 6 caught on closed circuit television (CCTV). Meanwhile, the plate number of the person who crashed is still vague to determine due to lights directly striking the plate and lower specs of the cameras.
The man was a 53 years old named Montano Gañola, resident of Población Sur riding a green rusi motorcycle. According to the Police Report of Philippine National Police Caba (PNP-CABA), the motorcycle was traveling south on the NHW when it was suddenly struck by an unidentified gray or silver SUV, causing it to crash into the pavement. The motorcycle was earlier halted in the inner lane of the southbound lane while waiting for the northbound lane to be clear in order to cross the NHW.
Gañola was rushed to the said hospital where he suffered three-fractured bones on the left part of his rib. Additionally, he suffered severe bruises on his knees and arms.
The unidentified driver may face accusation of abandonment and reckless imprudence resulting in physical injuries and damage to properties.
Police Corporal James Alambra confirmed during an interview that they are currently working with other police stations in adjacent towns to track where the SUV may have passed through. In an effort to determine the plate number, they will also try to enhance the footage. Alambra then added their dedication to the family as well.
Further, Minda Sudiacal, sister of Gañola called the driver to surrender.
Gañola and his family made clear that they will not be complaining about cases against the driver, a genuine arrangement would solve the issue. They also hope for the driver to replace the motorcycle and give help on the medical expenses of the victim. .
