TABUK CITY, Kalinga June 13 – A 35-year old self-employed man was injured after he was repeatedly shot by a farmer while attending the wake of his relative at sitio Luyocan, Lacnog, here, recently.
Senior Superintendent Brent Majaco, provincial director of the Kalinga Provincial Police Office, identified the victim as Ramon Palactao Balingtan, 35, male, married, self-employed, a resident of Bonagan St. Casigayan, Tabuk City, Kalinga while he named the suspect as Elarde Bag-ay alias Gebot, of legal age, married, farmer and a resident of Sitio Luyocan, Lacnog, Tabuk City, Kalinga.
Initial police investigation showed the victim came from the burial of his relatives when the suspect arrived and allegedly tried to provoke trouble.
The victim tried to pacify the suspect but the latter allegedly pulled out his .9mm firearm and started shooting him but the victim was able to seek recover from a nearby coconut tree.
The suspect reportedly reloaded his firearm and continue firing at the victim who was able to seek police assistance.
Recovered from the crime scene were nine spent shells of a calibre .9mm pistol which was used by the suspect in the perpetration of the crime. The suspect is now the subject of a manhunt operation by responding police operatives.
