PARACELIS, Mountain Province – A man was injured after his vehicle was fired upon by still unidentified armed suspects at barangay Butigue, here, Saturday.
Police authorities said that the victim, whose identity was withheld, sustained minor injuries on his back and right hand as a result of the said incident and is now undergoing medical treatment on a local hospital.
Initial police investigation showed that still unidentified and undetermined number of armed suspects allegedly fired upon a black pick up using various types of high powered firearms such as M-16 armalite rifles and caliber .45 and .9mm pistols.
Responding police personnel reportedly recovered 59cartridges for caliber 5.57, 35 spent shells of caliber .45 pistol, 4 deformed slugs for caliber .45 pistol and 1 fired cartridge case for a .9mm pistol from the crime scene.
Police is treating the aforesaid case with utmost seriousness and is actively working to determine the motive and identify the perpetrators of the said incident.
The Mountain province Police Office called on the public to be calm and sober as well as avoid spreading false information about the said incident so as not to jeopardize the ongoing investigation.
Moreover, the police appealed to the community to provide the necessary information about the motive and perpetrators of the incident to ensure the timely solution to the said incident.
