BAGUIO CITY – A 37-year old transient agent died after he jumped out from the 5th floor of the Flavier building of the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) here shortly before lunch Saturday.
Senior Superintendent George D. Daskeo, officer-in-charge of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), identified the victim as Eric Punla Muñoz, 37, a transient agent and a resident of N. 17 Salud Mitra barangay, Baguio City.
Initial police investigation showed the victim was admitted in the hospital for pneumonia early morning Friday and at around 11:45 am Saturday, he instructed his two watchers, Edison L. Punla, 38 and Marlon A. Panelo, to buy some bread and water and to eat lunch.
As soon as his watchers left, nurses on duty observed that the victim suddenly went out of his room and immediately went to the hospital lobby and jumped off the 5th floor amidst efforts by duty security guards to prevent him from jumping out of the building.
When his watchers came back, they were surprised to know that he jumped out of the building.
The victim was rushed to the BGHMC emergency room but he was declared dead on arrival due to severe spinal cord injuries and other traumatic injuries.
Probers are still conducting an investigation on the reason behind the alleged suicide incident.
