LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A 40-year old self-employed woman died after she was shot at close range by her own husband during a heated altercation inside their residence at Stonehill Km. 3 here Monday night.
Chief Inspector Radino Belly, chief of the La Trinidad Municipal Station, identified the victim as Marilou Bayate Quimoyog, 40, married, self-employed, native of Isabela, Negros Occidental.
On the other hand, the suspect was identified as Arnold Morendo Quimoyog, 40, married, Self-employed, native of Tadian, Mt. Province and also a resident of the same place.
Initial investigation showed that the suspect mauled his wife at the height of a heated altercation, and not contented, he fired upon his wife once on her head that caused her instantaneous death using a Norinco 1911A1 Cal.45 Pistol with Serial No. BAI9678-08-246.
According to Belly, the said incident was witnessed by their minor children and two employees.
Probers disclosed the suspect came home under the influence of liquor and confronted his wife suspecting that she was having an affair with another man.
The police official added their 14-year old son went out to seek assistance and on his way, incidentally met SPO2 Anthony Lang-akan, who is assigned at Km.3 outpost and informed the officer about the incident.
SPO2 Lang-akan immediately responded and saw the suspect who was holding something. He immediately entered the residence and told the suspect to bring down the gun on the floor and surrender.
At around 7:25 PM, elements of the Scene of the Crime Operation (SOCO) team led by Senior Inspector Alex Cariño processed the crime scene and was released around 7:45 PM of the same date.
The suspect is now detained at the La Trinidad municipal jail awaiting the resolution of the provincial prosecutor’s office on the parricide charges filed by the police operatives against him.
The body of his wife was subsequently brought to a local funeral parlor in Baguio city where her wake will be undertaken while awaiting her family’s decision on the matter.
