ITOGON, Benguet – Police operatives are now conducting a massive manhunt operation against the five suspects who were behind Sunday night’s P4.2 million gold nuggets and cash heist in barangay Ucab.
Probers claimed that they were able to identify the supposed persons of interest in the said multi-million robbery incident that took place inside the residence of a gold buyer.
The local police was able to secure a copy of the closed circuit television (CCTV) footages and the necessary identification of the motorcycles that were used by the robbers as their get away vehicles that allowed them to be able to gain initial headway in the ongoing investigation of the said incident.
Earlier, five masked individuals who were armed with rifles and handguns and on board two motorcycles barged into the gold buying station of the victim and took around one kilo of gold nuggets valued at P3.6 million and more than P600,000 cash from the cash register of the gold buying station before fleeing towards undisclosed directions.
Upon entering the gold buying station, the armed men ordered the occupants to lie facedown and immediately ransacked the establishment taking with them the unsold gold nuggets and cash and were able to perpetrate the crime in less than 10 minutes.
Police theorized that the heist was well planned because they knew the routines of the victim and occupants of the gold buying station that allowed them to successfully implement their planned robbery.
The store owner informed the police that she can identify one of the robbers once she sees him again that will help in solving the said incident. By Dexter A. See
