MANKAYAN, Benguet – Hundreds of members of vulnerable and marginalized sectors in the town’s different barangays will benefit from the ‘mobile tulong’ program of Benguet caretaker congressman and Anti-Crime and Terrorism through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list Rep. Eric Go Yap as its next stop will be in the municipality on Monday, June 22, 2020.
Representatives of the Benguet Congressional District Office under the able leadership of Anthony Kuan will be arriving in the municipality to distribute to the identified recipients the relief assistance from the province’s caretaker congressman.
Earlier, Congressman Yap launched the ‘mobile tulong’ program primarily geared towards extending relief assistance and other available services to the people of the province who were heavily impacted by the implementation of the extended Luzonwide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) that resulted to the unforced closure of businesses and loss of jobs and sources of livelihood for a greater majority of the population in the 13 towns.
Mayor Frenzel A. Ayong and other local officials will be welcoming the delegation from the Benguet Congressional District Office who will be distributing the assistance and providing other important services to the identified beneficiaries from the different parts of the municipality.
“The people and officialdom of Mankayan are elated that there is a continuing program like Congressman Yap’s mobile tulong so that members of the vulnerable and marginalized sectors from the different remote villages in the municipality will be provided with viable assistance for them to use to hurdle the negative effect of the global pandemic to their living condition,” Mayor Ayong stressed.
He expressed his gratitude to Congressman Yap and the members of his team for continuously working extra hard to ensure the continuous implementation of the ‘mobile tulong’ program where thousands of other members of similar sectors in other municipalities have benefited over the past several months.
According to him, the municipal government previously distributed relief assistance to the members of the vulnerable and marginalized sectors in the municipality during the prevalence of the ECQ where the funds for such assistance were sourced from the Bayanihan grant that was downloaded to the local government, the assistance that came from Congressman Yap and donations from kind-hearted individuals and groups inside and outside the locality.
Mayor Ayong admitted that the impact of the community quarantine to the employment and sources of livelihood of the people is enormous that is why concerned stakeholders are now working double time to gradually open up the economy so that people will have sustainable sources of income to help in uplifting the living condition of their families.
He asserted that with the resilience of the people, they will be able to recover from the present slump but what is important is there are responsible officials like Congressman Yap who is always willing to extend a helping hand to people who are in dire need of help for them to be able to improve their present status in life and move out from the shackles of poverty in due time.
