DASUL, Pangasinan – Known to be the home of quality salt, this town celebrated its second Asin Festival with two known personalities gracing the main event of the rapidly snowballing event.
As part of the festivity, the local government unit organized a barangay and community night last February 11 in the town. During the said gathering, known TV-personality and senatorial candidate Edu Manzano delivered a speech as he was invited guest of honor and speaker of the night.
According to Manzano, it was his first time to visit the town. He told the audience that the province of Pangasinan was close to his heart as the defeated gubernatorial aspirant in 2007 elections, Jamie Manzano-Agbayani was his cousin.
Manzano during his speech, endorsedformer fifth district congressman and gubernatorial aspirant Mark Cojuangco, who was also an invited guest in the said program. He said that he was a friend of Mark as well as the Cojuangco family.
Manzano also said that he admires Cojuangco’s decision to run for governor and serve his fellow Pangasinenses. “Saludo po ako kayMark dahil sa tingin ko, hindi ako sigurado kung magagawa ko iyon,” Manzano said.
Cojuangco on his side, also endorsed the senatorial candidate.
Both solons described their meeting as a reunion of two parted friends.
In 2010, the Manzano ran for vice president as running mate of former Defense Secretary
Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro under the Lakas-Kampi-CMD, but lost.
