LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Senator Imee Marcos and Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin, Jr. will be the province’s guests during the grand canao of the 2022 Adivay festival and 122nd founding anniversary which will be held at the Wangal Sports Complex on November 23, 2022.
Gov. Melchor D. Diclas said that Senator Marcos was chosen by the Steering Committee of this year’s festival because of her support to the province’s agriculture sector.
Further, Gen. Azurin was also chosen by the organizers to be one of the guests during the province’s special occasion for being one of the natives of Benguet who is now occupying a sensitive position in the present administration.
The theme of the “Adivay” 2022 is “A People’s festival of culture, nature and the future.”
Last Monday, the provincial government launched the month-long celebration of the 2022 Adivay festival and the 122nd founding anniversary of Benguet that jumpstarted the face-to-face gatherings that may be allowed but under prevailing community quarantine restrictions as Benguet remains under Alert Level 2.
Senator Marcos has been aggressively working hard for the protection of agriculture industry stakeholders as Benguet has been known the Salad Bowl of the Philippines through the years.
Benguet remains the source of more than 80 percent of the supply of semi-temperate vegetables being sold in the different markets around the country.
Diclas claimed that despite the pressing challenges confronting the province’s agriculture sector, hundreds of thousands of vegetable farmers remain the main producers of quality vegetables that are being sold in the different parts of the country.
The governor rallied concerned government agencies to continue supporting the agriculture sector in the province for stakeholders to continue producing quality and cheap vegetables that will be affordable to the consumers.
He explained that the recent natural calamities that struck the province caused significant damages to this sector but he expressed hope that there will still be a steady supply of vegetables in time for the Yuletide season.
Representatives from the province’s 13 municipalities will be converging at the Wangal Sports Complex on November 23, 2022 to celebrate the 2022 Adivay festival and the province’s 122nd founding anniversary through a grand canao where pigs will be butchered for the attendees food.
The whole day affair will also feature cultural performances from the various ethnic groups and delegations from the different municipalities which will also be focused on invoking the successful gradual and safe revival of the province’s economy that was heavily impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
