La Trinidad – Mark N’ Kins claims sole possession of second place even as Doms and Timpuyog forced a triple tie for third place during games last Sunday, July 31, 2016 at the San Jose Gym, here.
Mark N’ Kins got their fifth win at the expense of Fireball, 99-88 to inch closer to league-leader idle Young Guns. They have five wins against a single loss, a 91-96 squeaker they absorbed from the Giants last June 12. They are now just half a game behind the 6-1 of the Young Guns.
Meanwhile, the view from the top got murkier as two teams got their fifth win to create a triple tie for third place. Doms chopped down the Highlander, 88-79, while Timpuyog scattered the Insanhood, 86-76, to join the idle Giants at 5-2. The loss is already the third for Highlander and will drop them to sixth place in the 12-team league although they are just half a game from the top four.
In the other game, Abatan pulled out a 99-86 win against Chief to tie Fireball at 3-4, good for a tie for the seventh and eight seeds and a playoff berth. They are just one game clear of the Hotspring. The Chiefs are still winless after six games.
