‘LUNA, Apayao – The number of marriages in the province of Apayao surged in the second quarter of 2024, with 346 couples officially tying the knot – a huge increase from last year’s 175 marriages during the same period.
This 97.7 percent growth as reported by the Philippine Statistics Authority, highlights an increasing trend in the province’s commitment to family values.
Flora had the highest number of registered weddings with 66, Kabugao followed with 64, Conner and Luna each recorded 56 marriages, Santa Marcela had 48, Calanasan had 40, while Pudtol had the fewest with only 16.
This increase in marriage rates could be attributed to many factors such as more opportunities for social gatherings. With the post-pandemic situation, people have started resuming social activities as well as increased support for family-oriented events from the local government units. By Jess Christley Marquez
