BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan appealed to newly-installed Police Regional office–Cordillera (PRO-COR) regional director Chief Superintendent Israel Efraim Dixon to sustain the practice of close coordination and consultation with the city government on issues concerning peace and order not only in the city but also regionwide.
The local chief executive welcomed Dixon and his party from the PRO-COR during a courtesy call made by the police officer to local officials right after the regular Monday flag-raising ceremony.
“We hope we will continue and sustain the conduct of consultations and close coordination on matters of peace and order, especially that we are all Cordillerans who are familiar with the prevailing peace and order issues in our localities and the whole region. We are grateful that a Cordilleran was installed as the new regional police chief because he is familiar with the culture and peace and order situation in the region, unlike in the previous years where we had difficulty in adjusting to non-Cordilleran police officers assigned in the region,” Domogan stressed.
Dixon took over the post vacated by former PRO-COR regional director Chief Superintendent Rolando Z. Nana who reached the age of retirement for uniformed personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) last March 15, 2019.
Domogan expressed confidence the newly installed regional police chief will correct lapses in procedures done by previous officers to avoid conflict among local officials and police officers on the re-assignment of police officers in the different localities.
According to him, the ones that should be replaced are those whose performance are not in consonance with the standards imposed by the PNP hierarchy while those who are doing their assigned duties and responsibilities well should remain in their posts to ensure the continuity of peacekeeping initiatives to guarantee lasting peace regionwide.
He added there should always be an open line of communication among local officials and police officers to prevent conflicts that may compromise the implementation of effective and effective peacekeeping initiatives in certain areas in the region.
On his part, Dixon expressed his gratitude to Mayor Domogan for the warm welcome accorded him and his delegation and assured him that all the issues and concerns raised will be considered and will be used as references in decisions that may be made by the PRO-COR leadership in the coming months.
Dixon traces his roots to San Juan, Abra and is a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class 1987.
He claimed he will closely work with local officials in the different parts of the region, especially in the implementation of the appropriate peacekeeping initiatives to sustain the gains of his predecessors considering that the continuous decline in the region’s crime volume is a tall order to replicate.
