LUNA, Apayao – Apayao’s 30th Founding Anniversary culminated in a celebration bringing together leaders, guests, and residents, to honor the province’s progress and achievements, at BGVJR Gymnasium earlier today, February 17.
In his opening remarks, Mayor Hector Reuel Pascua, President of the Apayao Chapter of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines, reflected on the community’s growth and emphasized the impact of a solid foundation in shaping its present and future.
“Napakarami na nating pinagdaanan. Bagama’t maigsi lamang ang tatlongpong taon na pamamayagpag ng lalawigan ng Apayao mula noong umpisa at nakita natin sa pamamagitan ng ating unang diputado, no other than the founder of the province, Elias K. Bulut. Sr.,” Mayor Pascua said, acknowledging the efforts of leaders and residents in building a thriving province.
He also underscored the need to embrace modernization. “Sa ngayon, kinakailangan na nating harapin ang urbanisasyon, bagong investments, at magbigay tayo ng pinakabagong kapitolo at bagong bahagi ng mga buhay ng mga yApayaos sa pamamagitan ng mga development programs,” Pascua urged the community to work together in adapting to these changes while ensuring sustainable growth and progress.
Meanwhile, Board Member Kyle Mariah Chelsea Bulut-Cunan, in her closing message, extended her heartfelt gratitude to all who contributed to the event’s success. She highlighted the significance of the activities in strengthening the bonds of the community and preparing them for the future.
The culmination program highlighted the rich culture and unity of yApayaos after more than two weeks of events and activities that included sports, rescuelympics, battle of the bands, trade fair, musical theater performance, vlogging, and the most awaited Search for Taer and Dayag ti Apayao.
“Let us take pride in our heritage and carry forward the spirit of unity, resilience, and excellence.” Bulut-Cunan concluded.
The celebration ended with a renewed sense of pride, unity, and commitment to sustaining the legacy of the late Bulut elder, and to ensure that yApayaos continue to thrive amid modernization and development. By Diocen Tolentino
