BAGUIO CITY -Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan challenged critics of development in the city to closely work with concerned government agencies and the city government in order to provide policy makers and decision-makers with the good plans that could be implemented to strike a balance between development and environmental protection and preservation.
The local chief executive expressed disappointment that there are numerous experts in their own rights who criticize the city government in the social media in relation to various development projects that are being undertaken but it is just in the social media and their expertise are no longer being used for the welfare of the greater majority of the populace.
Nobody has the monopoly of good plans that is why we want those who claim they have good plans to closely work with the concerned government agencies and city hall offices in order to realize the implementation of their good plans,” Domogan stressed.
He asserted it is not true that the city government is not receptive to suggestion and recommendations of experts from various sectors but what is important is for them to formally coordinate their efforts with the concerned offices and for them to consistently follow-up the same in order to pressure department heads to act on their proposals.
With the volume of work in the city, he admitted that sometimes, various pending proposals are overlooked that is why there is a need for those concerned proponents to be persist about pursuing their proposals for consideration by the city council and for implementation by the local chief executive.
According to him, the city government recognizes the existence of numerous experts in different fields who are acting in their private capacities that is why it is still best for them to communicate with local officials in order for their suggestions and recommendations on how to effectively and efficiently administer the affairs of the government be considered for implementation by the concerned offices.
He agreed government officials also have their own lapses because of their need to weigh their options on how to handle pending proposals but it is not for the local government to shelve good and noteworthy proposals that would be beneficial to the people of the city.
Domogan claimed city government offices welcome the submission of various proposals from the different sectors on how to go about the implementation of development projects within the city and that the same must undergo the conduct of assessment, evaluation and validation among others.
He appealed to proponents whose proposals are either recommended for further validation and evaluation not to be offended considering that there are processes to be undertaken in the approval of development proposals that is why it takes sometime for their concerns to be effectively and efficiently addressed by the concerned offices of the city government.
The city mayor asserted he had always opened his options to all interested development proponents and that the city government was ever willing to partner with interested individuals and groups on how to undertake the implementation of future development projects in strategic parts of the city where development must be undertaken in order to enhance its state of development for the benefit of improving the local tourism industry.
