FLORA, Apayao – Municipal Mayor Rodolfo B. Juan Sr., during their first quarter regular MDRRM council meeting on January 22, directed the 16 barangays to prepare and submit their Barangay Disaster Risk and Reduction Management Plan for calendar year 2024-2026, to have them be finalized ahead of time.
Considering the risks of flooding and typhoon visits affecting the town, Mayor Juan regards preparedness as crucial preventive measures to avoid disaster related casualties when calamities strike.
Said plans are necessary for they’ll serve as the basis of the council to finalize the Comprehensive Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan within the municipality.
The CBDRRM plan should encompass a particular plan of action with regards to priority areas that include prevention and mitigation, disaster preparedness, disaster response, and rehabilitation and recovery.
Mayor Juan, being the chairman of the council, stated that taking this significant planning into account will ensure to reduce vulnerability and exposure of his constituents to all hazards, will increase the level of awareness of the community to the threats and impacts of danger, and will aid immediately restore disrupted economic activities.
MLGU Department heads, MLGOO Roderick Begtang, PSDS Shirley S.Sinawan,DRRM personnel, Punong Barangays, OIC Fire Marshall SF03 Jeofrey T. Balderama, MPS PCPT Cenon C. Manguba, and other members of the Council, also joined in the meeting and provided valuable contribution to add to the disaster preparedness and mitigating measures of the council. By PIO Apayao
