TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Mayor Darwin C. Estrañero lauded the Kalinga State University for its achievement in fostering excellence and innovation while upholding Kalinga’s cultural tradition during the university’s celebration of its 32nd Foundation Day and 9th Charter Day on January 23 at the KSU gymnasium.
As the guest of honor and speaker of the celebration, Mayor Estrañero emphasized the university’s contributions to the development of the city and the broader region through its expanded academic programs, cutting edge research, and global partnerships.
With the theme, “Celebrating our Heritage, Igniting Innovation for a Sustainable Future,” the mayor praised KSU’s dual commitment to advancing education while preserving the rich cultural traditions of Kalinga. “It is a reflection of your commitment to not only preserving the rich cultural tradition of Kalinga but also advancing education and innovation to address the need of the modern world,” he said.
Moreover, he underscored the strong partnership between the city government and KSU as the cornerstone of the collective success of both institutions. He praised previous and ongoing collaborations in enhancing education, improving livelihood, and promoting environmental sustainability to drive forward the shared vision of progress in the city.
“Your work aligns perfectly with the City Government of Tabuk’s vision of sustainable urban and rural development, ensuring that progress is achieved without compromising the welfare of the future generation,” he said.

Mayor Estrañero also reaffirmed the city’s commitment in supporting KSU’s development, particularly in infrastructure. He said that the city government allocated funds for the concreting of a road that connects the national highway and the heritage and research center of the university which is set to be implemented this year.
“Our collaboration on infrastructure projects demonstrates how unified efforts can bring about real changed. This synergy is a testament to the idea that when the academic and private sector work hand in hand, the entire community prospers,” he said.
In conclusion, the mayor urged the students of KSU to let the institution’s values of embracing innovation and honoring heritage guide them in navigating the complexities of the modern world, while making meaningful contributions to the nation. By JDA
