TABUK CITY, Kalinga – During Monday’s flag ceremony, Mayor Darwin Estrañero urged city government employees to uphold the high standards of public service that are expected of them.
He emphasized that employees should maximize their eight working hours by doing their jobs in serving the public rather than constantly cutting them short with personal errands and engagements, especially since the city’s workforce has been reduced due to this year’s decrease in its National Tax Allocation (NTA).
Estrañero reminded them to follow the procedures for ‘Ease of Doing Business’ outlined in Republic Act 11032, in order to address the slow processes in the City hall and make them more efficient and faster.
He encourages them to push for efficiency instead of causing delays in government transactions as simple as signing or approving documents.
As mandated by the Philippine Constitution and various laws, national and local government employees are tasked with serving the public, and are expected to carry out their duties with integrity, professionalism, and impartiality, putting the interest of the public ahead of their personal interests.
They must uphold the highest standards of ethics and accountability, and work towards delivering efficient and effective services to the citizens. By Ruth Cupang
