BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan urged women in the city to continue doing their share in nation-building to help bring not only the city but also the country to greater heights in the future.
The local chief executive underscored that the local government is one of the examples in the empowerment of women leaders because most of the incumbent department heads are women.
“We closely work with women in the implementation of the city’s priority programs and projects designed to uplift the general welfare of our constituents. We do not have a problem if we are surrounded by women workers for as long as they do things right,” Domogan stressed.
He underscored that there were many women who were able to excel in their respective fields of profession and the recognition given by the government to women in the work force had significantly contributed in the upliftment of the services rendered by the government to the people in the city’s 128 barangays.
According to him, women have shown what they could do and most of them have overshadowed the men in their chosen fields of profession that is why it is already acceptable in the current state of society that women occupy top positions not only in the government but also in multinational companies.
He emphasized the local government has always been supportive of the celebration of International Women’s Day and Women’s month in the city through the institutionalization of month-long activities that honor and recognize the contributions of women to growth and development.
Domogan expressed optimism that the continuous success of women in their chosen fields of profession should serve as an inspiration to their male counterparts to also excel in their respective duties and responsibilities because the realization of success will be dependent on the combined effort of the female and male work force in uplifting the status of their respective offices.
He explained that the wrong perception that the female is a weaker sex has been negated by their outstanding and excellent performance in the discharge of their assigned duties and responsibilities in their work places, thus, it is high time for everyone not to discriminate the women but instead support them in their quest for success in their jobs.
He rallied both men and women to continue their harmonious working relationships in their work places so that the overall success of the implementation of the programs and projects of their agencies, offices and companies will be achieved because what is important in uplifting the employment standards is the unity and teamwork of the people within the agency, office or company.
Further, he also appealed to residents to support the various programs and activities that were lined up by the local government to celebrate the women’s month to show their support to the continuous success of women in their fields of profession and for them to be able to climb the ladder of success.
