LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The League of Municipalities of the Philippines – Benguet Chapter passed a resolution expressing the warm greetings and congratulations of the people and the officials of the thirteen municipalities to the newly appointed caretaker congressman of Benguet, Anti-Crime and Terrorism Through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list Rep. Eric Go Yap.
Resolution No. 2020-03 was signed by Atok Mayor Raymundo Sarac, Bakun Mayor Bill Raymundo, Bokod Mayor Thomas Wales, Jr., Buguias Mayor Ruben Tindaan, Kabayan Mayor Faustino Aquisan, Kapangan Mayor Manny Fermin, Kibungan Mayor Cesar Molitas, La Trinidad Mayor Romeo K. Salda, Mankayan Mayor Frenzel A. Ayong, Sablan Mayor Manuel Munar, Jr., Tuba Mayor Clarita Sal-ongan and Tublay Mayor Armando Lauro.
The resolution was formally handed to the Benguet caretaker congressman during a meeting with the different local chief executives in the locality when the lawmaker visited Benguet last week.
Earlier, House Speaker Allan Peter Cayetano appointed Yap as Benguet’s caretaker congressman due to the untimely demise of the late Nestor B. Fongwan, Sr. who passed away last December 18, 2019 after succumbing to a lingering illness.
“The League of Municipalities of the Philippines – Benguet chapter herby manifests its warm greetings and congratulations to ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Eric Go Yap who wholeheartedly accepted the challenge to represent Benguet with the promise to extend better public service to its people,” the resolution stressed.
In a related development, the Mankayan municipal council passed Resolution No. 2020-10 expressing the town’s warm welcome to the newly appointed caretaker congressman.
“While we are still mourning from losing our action man, the late Rep. Nestor B. Fongwan, Sr., we need to move on for life and development,” the unanimously approved resolution stated.
The resolution added that the Mankayan municipal government is grateful anent the appointment and designation of the caretaker congressman considering that the ACT-CIS party-list was the second vote earner in the municipality for the party-list during the May 2019 mid-term elections.
According to the approved resolution, the Mankayan municipal government warmly welcomes the new legislative caretaker with the assurance of working with him in harmony and efficiency.
The resolution stipulated that further appreciation was manifested to Rep. Yap for accepting wholeheartedly the challenge to represent Benguet with the promise to extend true public service to its people among others.
Yap expressed his sincerest gratitude to the people and officialdom of the province and the 13 municipalities for warmly welcoming him as the legislative caretaker of Benguet and assured them of the delivery of true public service while he will be occupying the said position and that he will voluntarily tender his resignation of he will not be performing well as the caretaker of the vacated legislative district.
