TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The City Cooperatives and Enterprise Development Office (CCEDO) announced in a meeting with various staff of cooperatives that members of micro and small cooperatives in the City may avail of the medical assistance offered by the government as provided under Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Memorandum Circular 2022-30 issued November 7, 2022.
Project Development Officer III Engr. Ronald Ryan Jose of CCEDO explained that the said CDA MC set the guidelines of the CDA- Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) partnership program on medical assistance for cooperatives.
The eligibility requirements for the medical assistance are as follows: the applicant must be indigent or belonging to low to no income earners and must be cooperative member of a micro or small cooperative. The coverage of the medical program includes but not limited to the following: Confinement, Dialysis injection, Chemo drugs, Specialty drugs, Hemodialysis, Laboratory and diagnostic and imaging procedures, and Implant and medical devices.
The amount of assistance ranges from P2,500.00 to P50,000.00 depending on the medical cost incurred from the treatment or hospitalization of the member/patient, Ryan said.
The applicant must prepare a request letter to CDA, signed by the chairman or manager of the relevant cooperative, along with additional supporting papers like the applicant’s billing statement and medical certificate, and an identification card to prove membership in any micro or small cooperative in order to participate in the program.
Also, during the meeting, discussion on the Universal Health Care and claims and benefits for staff of cooperatives was presented by Hideko Apiledo, Sylvia Camuyot and Nelia Malasi from the Local Health Insurance Office.
Accordingly, staff of cooperative regardless of membership category need to understand what they are entitled to ensure that they receive affordable and quality health benefits.
