BAGUIO CITY – The mercury level in the Summer Capital and other highly elevated areas in Baguio and Benguet continue to drop as it was able to record 11 degrees Celsius as the coldest temperature around 5 am Saturday.
From 14.8 degrees Celsius on New Year’s Day and 11.4 degrees Celsius on January 2, the city’s coldest temperature plunged to 11 degrees Celsius on the third day of the year.
Danny Galate, meteorologist of the local office of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), said there will be a likely drop in the city’s temperature in the coming days because of the enhanced northeast monsoon aggravated by other prevailing weather systems.
The lowest temperature in the city that was docketed was 6.3 degrees Celsius on January 18, 1961.
