LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Metro Benguet Lions Club, led by Vice Mayor Roderick Awingan, successfully concluded 2024 with a series of impactful community outreach activities that underscored their commitment to serving the diverse needs of the community.
The club kicked off its year-end initiatives with a focus on health and wellness. On December 18th, in collaboration with the Municipal Health Services Office, they conducted a diabetes prevention lecture at the La Trinidad Municipal Jail. Nurse Rebecca Rosimo provided valuable insights to 80 inmates, emphasizing the importance of adopting healthy lifestyle choices. Thereafter, the initiative was further highlighted by the distribution of essential grocery items to all PDL courtesy of Tiongsan Supermarket.
Two days later, on December 20th, the club shifted its focus to environmental stewardship. Partnering with the LGU La Trinidad Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Council, they organized a meaningful Tree Caring and forest bathing activity at the Puguis Communal Forest. This collaborative effort aimed to strengthen partnerships with community stakeholders while fostering a deeper appreciation for environmental conservation.
The spirit of giving continued to shine throughout the month. On December 22nd, the club, in collaboration with the La Trinidad Bar Association, brought joy to 80 children with special needs at the La Trinidad Physical Rehabilitation Center through a “Share a Joy” gift-giving activity. This initiative highlighted the importance of supporting vulnerable members of the community.
Reaching beyond La Trinidad, the club extended its outreach efforts to the municipality of Sablan on December 29th. In coordination with the Office of the Municipal Vice Mayor Arthur Baldo and HEDCOR, Inc., they provided much-needed grocery packs to Persons With Disabilities in the area.
The year concluded on a heartwarming note with a gift-giving activity for the La Trinidad Association of Blind on December 31st. A total of 23 members received gift packs from the club, demonstrating their commitment to improving the quality of life for individuals with visual impairments.
