BAGUIO CITY – Some four to six first-time millennial visitors in the city are being eyed as this year’s lucky summer visitors who will receive a 4-day red carpet treatment from the local governments concerned, the Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club (BCBC) and potential sponsors of the annual event listed under the activities of the Summer Vacation in Baguio program.
BCBC president and Radyo Pilipinas anchorman person Jonathan M. Munar said that the members of the selection team will be going to Rosario, La Union and Sison, Pangasinan in the early morning of Maundy Thursday, March 29, 2018 for the conduct of the search for the city’s first-time visitors who will be on board Baguio-bound buses.
The Search for the Baguio-Benguet Lucky Summer Visitor is an annual tourism-related program initiated by the BCBC, the umbrella organization of mediamen in Baguio and Benguet, and the local governments of Baguio, Benguet, La Trinidad and Tuba and the Cordillera office of the Department of Tourism (DOT-CAR).
After the lucky summer visitors have been selected, selection team headed by Sky Cable area manager and anchor person Miguelito Velarde, Jr. and Peoples Television 4 anchor person Ala Sungduan will turnover the lucky summer visitors to the tour committee members led by Bombo Radyo anchorman Jordan Tablac and Northern Dispatch writer Aldwin Quitasol for the start of the 4-day red carpet treatment.
Initially, the lucky summer visitors will be visiting the entrance of the Aran cave, one of the premier tourist destinations in Tuba, Benguet, which will be part of the tour en route to Baguio City.
The selected visitors will also have a chance to have their picture-taking at the Lion’s Head area and the viewdeck in Camp 7 before proceeding to the media camp in Burnham Park in preparation for their courtesy call to Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan in the afternoon of Maundy Thursday.
Hotel Supreme will sponsor the lodging of the lucky visitors from Thursday night up to their departure in the city on Easter Sunday.
Among the activities lined up for the 4-day red carpet treatment of the visitors include their visit to the different tourist destinations like Botanical Garden, Wright Park, Mansion House, Mines view Park, Camp John Hay, the Dominican Hill area and the Diplomat Hotel site before enjoying the strawberry picking in nearby La Trinidad and a visit to WINACA in Tublay.
Aside from Mayor Domogan, the visitors will also be paying a courtesy call to Tuba Mayor Ignacio Rivera, La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda and Benguet Gov. Crescencio C. Pacalso.
The BCBC officer expressed their gratitude to the concerned local governments and the sponsors for their unwavering and uncompromising support to the annual conduct of the activity which has been an institutionalized partnership between the media and the concerned agencies and local governments to promote the growth of tourism in the Baguio-La Trinidad, Itogon, Sablan-Tuba-Tublay (BLISTT) areas.
