TUBA, Benguet – A 31-year old miner was injured after he was hacked by a still unidentified assailant for no apparent reasons while he was walking along Demonstration Road, Camp 4 here recently.
Senior Superintendent Florante Camuyot, officer-in-charge of the Benguet Provincial Police Office, identified the hacking victim as Michael Angcual Say-awen, 31, married, small scale miner at Camp 4, Tuba, native of Sagada, Mt. Province, and a resident of Tapao, West Quirino Hill, Baguio City.
Initial police investigation showed the victim was walking along the road when he happened to meet the still unidentified assailant going towards the opposite direction and after going hear him, he suddenly hacked him on the head for no apparent reasons.
Sensing danger, the victim ran towards the Community Police Assistance Center of the Tuba Municipal Police Station to seek assistance and he was immediately rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) where he was confined for further observation of his head injury while other policemen scoured the area to locate the suspect who fled towards an undisclosed direction and now the subject of a manhunt operation.
