BAGUIO CITY – A 24-year old miner was injured after he was repeatedly hacked by the father of his live in partner during a drinking session at UP Cypresss, Irisan, here, Sunday.
Senior Superintendent Ramil L. Saculles, City Director of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO), identified the victim as Arnel Balinggan Padua, 24, married, miner while he named the suspect as the father of the victim’s live in partner, Jaime Turralba Orate, 60, and both residents of UP Cypress Irisan, Baguio City.
Initial police investigation showed that the victim and the suspect, together with some companions, were having a drinking spree when the former allegedly stood up and acted as if he was irritated.
The suspect then took a bolo and hacked the victim several times on the back of his head before their companions were able to prevail on them and pacified the situation.
The victim was rushed by concerned citizens to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment where he is now in critical condition while the suspect was arrested by responding police operatives and now stands to face a case of frustrated homicide.
The case is now subject to further investigation by the police operatives.
