City officials recently approved the request of Mines View barangay for an extension to conduct a market encounter from May 31 to June 14, 2024 subject to conditions.
Under Resolution No. 328, series of 2024, the Committee on market, Trade, Commerce and Agriculture, in its 3rd indorsement dated May 20, 2024, stated that the proponent had submitted their terminal report which highlighted the impact of the barangay market encounter on both the vendors and the community.
In their report, the barangay market encounter had positive effects which emphasized the significance of bolstering economic resilience and community cohesion.
Moreover, in the request for extension, the proponent, through Resolution No. 15, series of 2024 will take the extension of the barangay market encounter as an opportunity to raise funds for the realization of various barangay projects and particularly in the conduct of barangay thanksgiving day.
The extended event will be an avenue to further foster unity and gratitude among the barangay residents and to acknowledge the blessings received by the barangay throughout the year, thus, the Committee recommended the favorable of the requested extension of the market encounter.
However, the proponent shall first secure the necessary requirements and clearances and the submission of the terminal report at the end of the extended barangay market encounter.
Further, the proponent is also mandated to comply with all the requirements needed in securing special permits at the City Permits and Licensing Division of the City mayor’s Office.
Earlier, the council approved Resolution No. 196, series of 2024 which granted the request of Mines View barangay to allow its indigent members to sell their products as per Barangay Resolution No. 13, series of 2024 subject to conditions.
In his letter dated April 16, 2024, Mines View punong barangay Antero Boswilan, Jr. forwarded to the council Barangay Resolution No. 16, series of 2024 extending for another 15 days the barangay market encounter for indigent vendors and seeking the council’s support and collaboration in furthering endeavors of the barangay for the betterment of its constituents.
The council claimed that extending the duration of the barangay market encounter will allow the indigent vendors to continue benefitting from the opportunity to sell their goods within a supportive and regulated environment. It will also help the barangay to raise funds for the realization of its significant projects and activities, particularly the conduct of the barangay thanksgiving day that fosters unity and gratitude among residents and acknowledges the blessings received by the barangay throughout the year.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to Mines View barangay for information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See
