BAGUIO CITY – City officials recently approved the request of Mines View barangay for the conduct of a market encounter beside the Mines view Park for a period of seventeen days from December 16, 2024 to January 1, 2025 subject to conditions.
Under Resolution No. 692, series of 2024, the Committee on Market, Trade, Commerce and Agriculture, in its 2nd indorsement dated November 25, 2024, stated that in the barangay resolution, the proponent intended to conduct their vending activities from October 26, 2024 to November 9, 2024 and from December 1, 2024 to January 1, 2025.
The council claimed that considering that the first intended date for the conduct of the vending activity had already lapsed, the committee recommended the approval of the proponent’s request for the conduct of a market encounter beside Mines view Park for the marginalized sector’s livelihood purposes which shall be for a period of 17 days from December 16, 2024 to January 1, 2025.
Further, the proponent shall first secure a clearance or certification from the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO) on the use of the aforesaid street and other necessary requirements and clearances and submit a terminal report to the body at the end of the said activity.
Earlier, the council considered Barangay Resolution No. 29, series of 2024 of Mines view barangay that requested the city council to approve the market encounter beside Mines view Park for the marginalized sectors livelihood purposes.
Moreover, the Mines view market group expressed their intent to conduct vending activities from October 26, 2024 to November 9, 2024 and from December 16, 2024 to January 1, 2025 beside the famous Mines View Park.
The group added that the products to be sold by the vendors are vegetables, fruits, and cooked snacks, and will not be the same as those offered in the nearby stalls to ensure diversity and fair competition.
The Mines View barangay council expressed their full support to the conduct of the said endeavor as a means to help the marginalized sector sustain their source of livelihood, enhance their economic opportunities and address their basic needs.
Copies of the approved resolution will be transmitted to the Mines View barangay council, the group intending to conduct the market encounter and concerned offices of the local government for information, guidance, ready reference and further needed action. By Dexter A. See
