TUBLAY, Benguet– A 17-year old motorcycle driver died while his back rider was injured after their vehicle was rammed over by an elf truck at sitio Suyoc, Daclan here around 1:30 am Sunday.
Senior Superintendent David Q. Lacdan, director of the Benguet provincial police office, identified the fatality as Jake Tomas, 17, single and a resident of Tublay, Benguet while his injured back rider was named as Edwin Jose Simalong, who is reportedly undergoing medical treatment at the Benguet General Hospital (BeGH).
Initial investigation showed the motorcycle driven by the victim with his back rider and an elf truck driven by Jessie Aracdes Bentican, 28, a resident of La Trinidad, Benguet were en route onwards opposite directions when the motorcycle reportedly bumped the right side of the elf truck causing it to ram over the same and subsequently turned turtle.
The injured individuals were immediately rushed to the BeGH but Tomas was declared dead on arrival while Simalong is still recovering from the injuries he sustained from the vehicular accident.
The case is still subject to follow-up investigation in order to ascertain whether or not the involved individuals were under the influence of liquor at the time of the incident while the vehicles were brought by the responding police personnel to the Tublay municipal police station for documentation and impounding.
